Inkless Scar Revision (ISR) is a pigment-free approach to softening the appearance of scars. Using specialized micro-needling techniques without tattoo pigment, ISR encourages the body’s natural remodeling response so that scar tissue gradually appears smoother, more even in texture, and better blended with the surrounding skin.
Unlike Scar Camouflage, which uses matched pigments to visually blend a scar into the surrounding skin, Inkless Scar Revision does not add any pigment. It is well suited for clients who want to work with the scar itself rather than mask it, and it can be combined with camouflage techniques as part of a personalized treatment plan.
Inkless Scar Revision is a technique I use to soften the texture and visible character of a scar without adding any pigment. Where camouflage focuses on color, this focuses on the scar tissue itself - softening how it feels and how it catches light.
Precision techniques are applied to the scar tissue itself over multiple sessions. The intent is to soften the scar's own texture and appearance. Because the work is on the scar itself rather than adding pigment, it can be layered later with Camouflage if you want to also address color.
Some redness and mild sensitivity in the treatment area for a day or two is expected. Written aftercare is provided so the area heals cleanly. Improvement is progressive as the tissue continues to remodel over the weeks after treatment.
Mature scars with visible texture typically respond best. Very new, actively-healing, or raised scars may need a different starting approach. Certain skin conditions and medications may require adjustments. Candidacy is confirmed in consultation.
Most scars need a series of sessions spaced by healing time. A realistic plan is discussed with you based on the scar, your skin, and your goals.
